"Peace Speaker"
I heard that song, "Peace Speaker", on the radio this morning on my way to work. It seemed that their "theme" on the radio was "peace" this morning.... and wouldn't you know it, that's just what I needed on my drive in to work... isn't that just like God?? I recently had a couple of fender benders on my way to work and let's just say driving in Atlanta traffic every day is not one of my favorite past-times these days. Every time I get into the driver's seat I pray for Him to help me to drive safely as well as the others around me, to put a hedge of protection around me and my car, to give me heightened awareness of what's going on around me, and to help me to react appropriately and quickly. Today seemed like an especially stressful driving day. Maybe it's because we were "plagued" with an ice storm here in the southern U.S., not something we see often, and driving conditions over the weekend were rather "yucky" to put it mildly. So, while I was traveling 60 mph in a 55 mph zone, being passed on all sides by others going "way over 60 mph", I must admit that I was a bit frightened. But God.... one of my favorite phrases.... but God, in His infinite faithfulness, kept me safe AND gave me His "peace that passes all understanding". Then it came to mind that the same prayer I pray each time I get into the car is the same prayer I should be praying for every day life. God's peace is perfect, all the time, in every way, in every circumstance. Whether big or small to us or to others, God's perfect peace is just that.... perfect. I'm glad that I know the peace speaker, I know Him by name, and He knows me by name... better than I know myself.

Serenaded by Angels
I work in an oncology center and it's my job to make sure that we are continuously following up on our patients, even those who've been cancer-free for years. Well, yesterday on my um-teenth phone call I spoke with a precious elderly lady who told me that she and her husband of many years lived in separate houses, she with one daughter and he with the other. Her health as well as his had become so bad that she couldn't even take care of herself, much less her husband who is in the late stages of Alzheimers. She can't call him as much as she would like because it upsets him too much, he can't understand why they have to be apart. But this sweet lady's demeanor and attitude touched me....
I kind of reminded me that nothing we do on earth is just "routine", it's all a part of God's divine plan. I think God sent me that "angel" to remind me of who I really work for...

"I Know How To Say Thank You"
"I Know How To Say Thank You"

I don't know about the future, I don't understand some things about the past.
I don't know why some things happen, I don't know why some things end and others last.
I don't know the rhyme or reason, I don't understand the words some people pray.
But I see Your hand of mercy, Lord, protect me from the dangers in my way.

There were times today when angels stood around me and I couldn't even see.
There were times when I was hurting, You stepped in and took the pain for me.
There were moments when you stopped me so that I could smell the roses by the road.
Though I'm not the wisest person, there are some things without a doubt I know.

I know how to say "Thank you", I know a blessing when I see one.
I'm a recipient of grace, through the hours and the days, I know how to say "Thank you".

You know, even thought I don't know about the future, and don't even always understand things about the past, I've learned that God is always faithful, always good. Even if I don't see the "good" in it at the time, He has promised to work ALL things together for good for those who love Him, and the one thing I do know is how to say Thank You...
